What Is Strep Throat?

The condition typically develops quickly and is more severe than a typical sore throat, often requiring antibiotics to prevent complications and stop the spread to others.
How Is Strep Throat Treated?

If the test is positive, we provide appropriate antibiotic prescriptions as part of your tailored treatment plan. If further testing is needed, we can collect a throat swab for lab confirmation.
In addition to medication, we may recommend symptom management strategies such as over-the-counter pain relievers like acetaminophen or ibuprofen, hydration with warm fluids, throat lozenges or saltwater gargles, and vocal rest. Strep Throat Symptoms

You should avoid close contact with others for at least 24 hours after beginning antibiotics to prevent spreading the infection. It’s also helpful to disinfect commonly touched surfaces and replace your toothbrush once the infection clears.
