Your sexual health is an essential part of your overall well-being, and getting tested or treated for sexually transmitted infections (STIs) shouldn’t be stressful or stigmatized. At InMotion Health, we bring compassionate, confidential care directly to you through virtual consultations and discreet in-home visits. Whether you’re experiencing symptoms, need screening after potential exposure, or simply want peace of mind, our team provides accurate testing, judgment-free treatment, and personalized support.

What Are STIs?

STIs, or sexually transmitted infections, are infections that are spread through sexual contact, including vaginal, oral, and anal sex. Common STIs include chlamydia, gonorrhea, syphilis, herpes, human papillomavirus (HPV), hepatitis B and C, and HIV. Many STIs are easily treatable with medication, especially when caught early. However, some can lead to serious health issues if left untreated. That’s why timely screening, diagnosis, and treatment are key to protecting both your health and the health of your partners.

How Are STIs Treated?

At InMotion Health, STI treatment starts with a private consultation where we’ll discuss your symptoms, exposure history, and health concerns. If testing is needed, we recommend an in‑home visit where a medical provider can collect samples discreetly and safely from your home. When testing involves sensitive areas, we use a self-swabbing technique, which our team will guide you through step by step. This approach ensures your comfort and privacy.

Our partner lab, HealthTrackRx, provides rapid and accurate diagnostic testing for a wide range of STIs. If additional testing is needed, we can order urine or blood samples to be collected at the Quest or Labcorp location of your choice. Once your results are in, your provider will review them with you and, if needed, prescribe the appropriate treatment. This may include oral antibiotics, antiviral medications, or referrals for ongoing care.

STI Symptoms

Some people with STIs experience no symptoms at all, which makes regular screening especially important. When symptoms are present, they may include:

  • Unusual discharge from the genitals
  • Pain or burning during urination
  • Genital sores, blisters, or warts
  • Lower abdominal or pelvic pain
  • Itching or irritation in the genital area
  • Pain during intercourse
  • Flu-like symptoms (fever, fatigue, swollen glands)

If you notice any of these signs or think you may have been exposed, it’s important to get tested as soon as possible.

What Causes STIs?

STIs are primarily caused by bacteria, viruses, or parasites transmitted through sexual activity. They can also spread through shared needles, during childbirth, or through skin-to-skin contact. Factors that increase your risk include unprotected sex, multiple sexual partners, or having a partner who hasn’t been tested recently. The only way to know your status is through regular screening, especially if you’re sexually active with new or multiple partners.

Why Are STI Treatments Important?

Without timely care, STIs can lead to serious complications such as infertility, pelvic inflammatory disease, chronic pain, and a higher risk of contracting or transmitting HIV. In addition, untreated infections may be unknowingly passed on to sexual partners or newborns during childbirth. Prompt, effective treatment helps stop the infection from progressing, prevents transmission, and supports overall reproductive wellness.

How Should I Support My Recovery From STIs?

Supporting your recovery means completing your full course of treatment, avoiding sexual contact until cleared by your provider, and informing recent partners if necessary so that they can also be tested and treated. Use protection during future sexual activity and consider regular screenings as part of your health routine. Our team can help you create a plan that protects your health and gives you peace of mind.
