Maintaining your sexual and reproductive health is an essential part of overall wellness, and regular STD and STI testing plays a key role in that care. At InMotion Health, we make it easier than ever to protect yourself and your partners with private, in-home testing for sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and sexually transmitted diseases (STDs). With the guidance of licensed healthcare professionals, you can confidently take charge of your health in a comfortable, judgment-free environment.

What are STIs and STDs?

Sexually transmitted infections (STIs), also known as sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) or venereal diseases, are infectious diseases spread primarily through sexual contact, including vaginal, oral sex, and anal sex. These infections are caused by bacteria, viruses, or parasites that can enter the body through mucous membranes or breaks in the skin. Common examples include:

  • Chlamydia
  • Gonorrhea
  • Human papillomavirus (HPV) infection
  • Herpes simplex virus (HSV)
  • Viral hepatitis (hepatitis B and C)
  • Syphilis
  • Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection

Left untreated, these infections can lead to serious health problems such as pelvic inflammatory disease, cervical cancer, liver disease, infertility, and life-threatening immune system complications.

What are the Symptoms?

Many sexually transmitted infections produce mild symptoms or none at all. When symptoms do appear, they may include:

  • Unusual vaginal or penile discharge
  • Painful urination or dark urine
  • Flu-like symptoms such as muscle aches, sore throat, or swollen glands
  • Sores, warts, or irritation in the genital area
  • Itching, burning, or discomfort during sexual activity

Both men and women can carry infections without realizing it, potentially spreading STIs to a sexual partner. Sexually active women, young adults, and anyone engaging in unprotected sex or risky sexual behavior are at a higher risk and should consider regular testing.

Benefits of Private STD Testing

InMotion Health offers private, in-home STD and STI testing designed to protect your privacy and peace of mind while making sexual health care more accessible. Our mobile service brings professional testing directly to your doorstep; no waiting rooms, crowded clinics, or uncomfortable visits. Your results are kept strictly confidential and reviewed only by licensed healthcare providers who ensure your privacy at every step.

We use reliable blood and swab tests to provide fast, accurate STI diagnosis so you can take action quickly if needed. Should treatment be required, our team offers immediate care options and follow-up support to help you manage your health with confidence and ease from the comfort and safety of your home.

What to Expect

Our healthcare professionals provide discreet care and use advanced diagnostic testing to detect a wide range of sexually transmitted infections, including HIV, gonorrhea, chlamydia, syphilis, hepatitis, and genital herpes. During your in-home appointment, our healthcare professionals will collect necessary samples (such as blood, urine, or swabs) for laboratory testing.

We partner with Quest Diagnostics and HealthTrackRx, trusted national laboratories, to ensure same-day processing and often next-day results whenever possible..Once your results are available, your provider will review them with you privately and, if needed, initiate treatment or prescribe appropriate medications to treat STIs and prevent complications.

Who Should Get Tested?

Testing is recommended for:

  • Sexually active individuals, especially those with multiple sex partners
  • Anyone engaging in unprotected sex or sex with an infected partner
  • Women’s health patients undergoing annual exams
  • Individuals with flu-like symptoms, unusual discharge, or painful urination
  • Anyone who wants to prevent spreading HIV or STIs to others

Regular testing helps with disease control and prevention, protecting both your sex life and overall reproductive health.

STI and STD FAQs

What are the typical symptoms of an STI or STD?

Some of the most common symptoms of an STI or STD include burning, itching, unusual discharge, painful urination, or sores and bumps.

Why is early detection and treatment of STIs important?

Early detection and treatment for STIs is so crucial because it reduces the risk of spreading the infection to others, decreases the chances of other health complications, and improves the likelihood of a full recovery.

How often should I get tested for STIs or STDs if I am sexually active?

We typically recommend that most patients who are sexually active get tested at least once a year. That said, there are several factors that can change how often a patient should get tested, including age, sexual behavior, and their partners.

What does an at-home STI testing appointment involve?

An at-home STI testing appointment is simple and convenient. We come directly to you for testing—no need to visit a clinic or medical office. During your appointment, a swab, blood, or urine sample will be collected and sent to the lab for analysis. Once results are received, we’ll review them with you and discuss any necessary treatment or next steps.

How long do STI or STD test results take?

It can depend on the type of test performed. Results are typically available as fast as 24 hours to a few days.

What are the risks of leaving an STI untreated?

An untreated STI can lead to many different complications. Some of the risks include infertility, cancer, organ damage, pregnancy complications, and a higher risk of HIV.

Are regular STI screenings recommended for everyone?

Regular STI screenings are recommended for most adults. The CDC advises that everyone between ages 13 and 64 get tested for HIV at least once. Sexually active women under 25 should be screened yearly for chlamydia and gonorrhea, while women 25 and older should be tested if they have new or multiple partners or a partner with an STI. Sexually active men should also be screened for HIV and other STIs based on their risk factors, including new or multiple partners. Men who have sex with men should be screened at least once a year for HIV, syphilis, chlamydia, and gonorrhea, and every 3–6 months if at higher risk. Anyone engaging in unprotected sex should be tested regularly.

What types of samples are collected for STI or STD testing?

Urine and blood samples can be taken for STI testing, as well as swabs from the mouth, throat, and genitals.

Are in-home STI test results accurate and confidential?

Absolutely! All STI tests performed through InMotion Health are processed by our trusted lab partners, HealthTrackRx and Quest Diagnostics, ensuring highly accurate and reliable results. Your information and test results are kept 100% confidential between you and your provider.

Can you have an STI without any symptoms?

Yes, some STIs show up without any symptoms. Many STDs, like chlamydia, gonorrhea, human papillomavirus (HPV), and syphilis, can remain asymptomatic for extended periods of time.
